Novus launches Community Energy Saving Programme

Novus Community Management today announced the launch of the Novus Energy Programme in partnership with EnergyX and Emrill Energy. The initiative has been specifically designed to reduce the environmental impact of residential and commercial buildings managed by Novus Community Management and will see savings of up to AED 350 million over 10 years.

Keen to tackle the huge cost of utilities which account for an average of 42% of unit service charge costs, the largest independent community manager in Dubai, Novus Community Management, set out to reduce energy bills across its portfolio by 35% without imposing any additional cost on property owners.

Alastair McCracken, CEO of Novus Community Management said: “Energy represents the single largest operational cost for all building owners and US studies have proven that every building wastes between 20 – 40% of its energy bill. The biggest challenge for Dubai is the fact that electricity prices have not historically been linked to inflation, resulting in lower pricing and leading to unchecked and increased consumption. Novus were keen to tackle this wastage for our customers and to support the government to reduce the environmental impact in the city.”

The Novus Energy Programme combines cutting edge technology, financing and local project delivery with programme partners that include EnergyX, a Hong Kong based energy performance financing group and Emrill Energy, a successful partnership between Crowley Carbon, Ireland and the leading facilities management company, Emrill Services.

This exclusive partnership offers Owners’ Associations, an unparalleled energy saving initiative with free building energy audits that require no commitment, 100% guarantee on projected energy savings, 100% financing of energy project costs, free warranties on project equipment and maintenance of equipment.

The unique initiative ensures that property owners will not have to pay any upfront costs for capital expenditure or expose themselves to financial risk with the Novus Energy Programme. One of the most significant benefits of the programme is the reduction of energy costs to Novus managed buildings, which will reduce service fees by AED 4,000 to AED 10,000 annually per unit.

Ben Churchill, Managing Director of Emrill Energy, said: “After a complete audit of all communities managed by Novus, Emrill Energy was able to identify staggering results of up to 33% in energy cost savings. This would translate to annual savings of AED 110 million when fully implemented in our 39 residential towers. We estimate the potential for savings across the entire city of Dubai would be in excess of AED 5 billion over 10 years at current prices, and could result in a reduction of 5.9 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. This initiative enables property owners to save energy costs with no risk and no up-front capital expenditure.”

Endorsing this initiative, Ivano Iannelli, CEO of Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence (DCCE), added: “We are delighted to support initiatives such as the Novus Energy programme designed specifically to reduce our impact on the environment. This is the future of Dubai as they move towards a green economy and build sustainable developments that will reduce their carbon footprint and overall environmental impact.”

Emrill Energy solutions provides innovative products and solutions for HVAC, Air Handling, Chilling, Refrigeration, Motive Power, Lighting and Renewable Energy, among other unique solutions available. The company has been audited ISO 9001: 2008 for Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001:2004 for Environmental Management Systems and OHSAS 18001:2007 for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
